Exploring Your Options When Faced With Hair Loss- By: Oscar B Dewsbury

Description : When hair loss strikes it is often assumed that there is little that can be done to reverse the inevitable. However, unless there is some other underlying medical issue that is resulting in hair loss, many believe that a case of standard male pattern baldness can be remedied. And unless you are one of the few balding men who simply don't care if your hair falls out, investigating the many possible solutions to hair loss could be just what you need.

Of course, dealing with hair loss needn't involve the use of strange and exotic lotions and potions. Many men prefer to simply cover up their head in order to hide the problem away. Although a hairpiece is generally something we like to make fun of, a good toupee is still an effective method of masking your problem. Some do look more natural than others, and it would be best not to choose a style that does not fit in with your age and general appearance too.

Other ways of hiding away a receding hairline or embarrassing bald patch include the use of coloured sprays, a hat or baseball style cap, and scalp pigmentation. Coloured sprays are useful for small areas of hair loss, but if the problem gets worse you will soon find that they become too noticeable. A cap is fairly simple, effective and inexpensive, but not everyone wants to wear one all the time. Scalp pigmentation is a little more severe, and involves applying permanent ink in small dots all over the head, in the same way ink is applied for a tattoo. The problem with this is not only is it permanent, like any tattoo, but you only really get the closely shaved head look to choose from.

As an alternative to simply trying to hide a case of hair loss away, some deicide to tackle the problem head on. Over the counter hair treatments, in the form of shampoos, are often the obvious choice for men with hair loss problems. The active ingredient Minoxidil is used in many products, and has shown in tests to both prevent the loss of hair and help promote the growth of new hair on the parts of the scalp which have become bald. It is available in a number of brand names, and in some cases comes in oral form. As you may expect, products containing Minoxidil tend to be rather expensive, they also need to be used indefinitely to permanently stop hair loss and there is no guarantee they will work for everyone who tries them

Alternative solutions to hair loss are as many as they are varied, with many people claiming their home made remedy to be a miracle cure for bald men everywhere. Many of these such treatments are both safe to use and inexpensive to buy, but again there is no guarantee of success. However, testing them out will at least not end up costing you too much money, and you might just stumble upon something that does the trick for you.
